US divorce rate drops for third year, reaches near 40-year low
According to a recent study, the overall divorce rate in the U.S. has dropped to a near-record low in 2015. The study, by the National Center for Family and Marriage Research at Bowling Green State University, found a rate of 16.9 divorces per 1,000 married women over age 15. That was a drop from 17.6 in 2014. The divorce rate peaked in 1980, with nearly 23 divorces per 1,000 marriage-age women.
